EXPOSITION "LIELĀ (THE BIG) STREET"

The exhibition tells the story of the town's socio-political and economic life in the early 20th century. Lielā (The Big) Street played the most important role in the economic life of the town. It was the main street of the town - the dominant one - it had the most houses with many small workshops and shops. Almost all of them belonged to Jewish families. Walking along Lielā (The Big) Street, from house to house, it was possible to arrange all the necessary things. There was a Town Hall, pharmacies, a bookstore, a school, food and clothing stores, a marketplace and driveways - pubs, tailors and watch repair shops, a post office and a photo workshop. An arrangement of the exposition has been created: a house next to the house, the windows, when looking through the illuminated windows, the story about their inhabitants could be seen to the museum visitors. The exposition is also equipped with a suitable street surface - pavement for the part of the carriageway and wooden footbridges for pedestrians.
